Because those with a felony conviction find great difficulty in finding employment, we typically have to be more creative than normal and even find ways to start our own businesses – or become self employed. As a self employed business consultant you will expect to meet with clients in companies and other organizations to identify business problems, then gather information and recommend solutions.
If, prior to your felony conviction, you had expertise in a particular area, consider becoming a business consultant to people who are still working in that industry. Maybe, prior to your felony conviction, you were focused on a particular industry such as health care, or areas such as marketing, human resources, technology, or small business. If these were your expertise, and you are unable to actually return to that line of work, become a business consultant and teach others how to get into that profession.
