So, if you have been following this site, you know that we recommend creating a blog is a great way to earn some extra cash online. With time, your blog can accrue statistics that are preferred by manycompanies for promoting their websites. In fact, on many of the websites I own, I monetize my blog by running coupon codes or advertising. You can find great coupon codes and affiliate links through companies like Commission Junction and even affiliate.com.

Start by creating a blog in a niche market. Some suggestions could be topics in parenting, blogs about shopping, blogs about sports – really anything that suits your passion. Just find a passion, a niche, and then focus on what you want to write about. Then, sign up for an account through either of these companies and start running ads on your site. These companies will pay you for generating leads and for generating sales. You can sign up for a free blog account with Blogspot or WordPress, although we don’t recommend running blogs on these free platforms because many companies want you to have your own site, running on independent hosting. In our third lesson from our Ebook, we will provide some instructions on how to set up your own blog by purchasing the domain and also buying the hosting. Jobs for Felons EBook – Lesson One

As I’ve mentioned before, I plan to create an ebook that will teach my readers, and those who have been convicted of a felony, how to recover from the devastating experience and make money online. The Jobs for Felons eBook is still in development and I will post a link to it as soon as I have it ready. In the meantime, I plan to post, blog by blog, the method for starting a website online with the purpose of making affiliate money, monetizing the site for paid blog posts and link sales, and also offering the site in a process known as domaining. These will be the processes I”ve used to become a successful online marketer and I’m now earning more income than I did before I was convicted of a felony.

So, let’s get started. For this eBook “glimpse”, I will provide you with the details on how to start from scratch and build a website. For entertainment purposes, I am going to make my sample website one that is about animals. You can choose any niche you are interested in – maybe parenting, sports, medicine – really anything. The first step is to narrow down your niche and to find three to four, longtail keyword phrases that are highly searched on the internet but have very low competition levels. This keyword research should be done first, before you even buy a domain or set up hosting. It is important to find a keyword rich domain as this will be favored by Google, Yahoo and Bing.

For the first step, let’s find a bunch of keywords that have high search volume. Using a keyword tool called SEObook (which can be found here), select the icon that says “keyword tool, and you’ll be able to type in long tail phrases and find one that has a high search volume. It is important to find long tail phrases – say three to four words a piece, with search volume of, at least, 100 per day. If you choose more broad keywords, with high search volume, they will be too competitive for this project.

In may example, I am doing a search for “monkeys for sale”. Right off the bat, I see the following four, long tail keyword phrases with search volume as follows:
capuchin monkeys for sale – 2772
squirrel monkeys for sale – 1522
baby pet monkeys for sale – 1499
monkeys for sale – 1420

These figures represent the average number of people who are searching in the major search engines using these targeted phrases. So, I’m on my way to picking a domain and website – looks like I’ll be focusing on some aspect of moneys for sale. In Lesson Two, we will discuss how to determine which of these phrases, with high search volume, also has very low competition on the web – a key to successful online marketing.
